The National Family Preservation Network (NFPN) is winding down its Fatherhood in the Child Welfare System project. Funded with a generous grant from the Stuart Foundation, the goal of this project has been to motivate and train social workers to engage and involve fathers in their children’s lives. The research component shows the project has achieved this goal. (See the March NFPN News Notes on project findings). A major goal this final year of the grant has been national dissemination of the resources produced by the fatherhood project. To date, presentations on fatherhood have been conducted in almost a dozen states and may be conducted in another dozen by the end of this month when the project ends. To reach states that have not had the opportunity to participate in these fatherhood presentations, NFPN is offering free sample materials from two fatherhood training packages. This offer is open only through October 20, 2005. Please visit our Web site for more information about the training packages:
We
are especially eager to get these materials into the hands of child
welfare program managers and trainers responsible for father
involvement initiatives. If you fit that description or know a contact
person in any of the following states, please e-mail NFPN immediately: NPFN intends to continue developing and offering resources for father engagement and involvement.
